As we have learned, the Sons of Liberty (America's most dedicated Patriots) went to extreme measures to become free from England. Tarring and feathering tax collectors, burning down British officials' and Loyalists' homes, destroying British goods (i.e. Boston Tea Party) and creating exaggerated propaganda (i.e. Revere's engraving) are just a few examples of how far the Patriots went to express their dissatisfaction with England. Do you feel these actions were justified in order to achieve the ultimate goal of freedom or did these Sons of Liberty sometimes take things too far? Can you make any modern connections related to people going to extreme measures to show their frustration? (Post as anonymous using first name, last initial and class period only!) credit: W. Morales

I feel they were taking it way to far because if you want freedom, go somewhere else and not destroy other peoples materials. They were Taking it way to far because they started destroying goods, homes and more. Now in days we have burglars. They break in homes and stores and destroy properties and steal precious things.

I believe that the Sons of Liberty did achieve their goal of freedom, but also they did take some things too far. I believe what they did was something that had to be done in order for us to get our independence from England. However, some things that they did were not correct like burning down homes and exaggeration in propaganda. People that were protesting in Baltimore felt frustration but some took it too far and looted. When ISIS saw a cartoon and killed people at the magazine Charlie Hebdo.

Good connection Ralph when people take extreme measures it may be horrible but usually results in public notice and change.

I think that the Sons of Liberty did take it too far, because they already achieved their goal of freedom but they didn't have to burn homes down, and overly exaggerate on the propaganda so they can get their independence and freedom.

I think that the Sons Of Liberty achieved their goal of freedom but took it to far after that. There was no need for them to burn down houses or burn goods. In the beginning of the organization the things they were doing had to be done so we could get our independence. Although they did end up taking it to far later on.

I think that the Sons Of Liberty got to there goal of freedom but later on they took it too far. When they burnt down houses a bunch of materials and houses that was taking it too far. But if they didn't do so we would not have had the freedom we have today.

I think the sons of the liberty took it a little to far because they kept on taxing everyone. First they were fine on not taxing everyone for everything but then they did and that was unfair.

I think the sons of liberty did achieve there goal of freedom but took things to far after that. When they burned the houses and other things down it was not necessary at all.

I believe that the sons of liberty did good to achieve their goal to have freedom but they might have taken it to far by burning down houses and exaggeration in propaganda. Although they did take it too far out of frustration other people still do that to this day by rioting and lashing out at authorities

I think that the Sons of Liberty took it way to far after they achieved their goal of freedom. They were destroying property and why would they do that if they already have their freedom? I can relate this to the real world because people these days can take it way to far and that can lead to many consequences.

I think that the Sons of Liberty definitely achieved their goal of freedom by far, although I also believe that their actions after that like burning down houses, and goods that people needed to survive was too much, and they took it way too far.

I feel The Sons Of Liberty were taking it way to far because if you want to have freedom, all you have to do is go somewhere else. Gaining freedom does not mean you should destroy other peoples belongings and houses. They were taking it way to far because they started completely destroying great goods, and etc. Modern days we have burglars. Robbers or burlgars steal whats ours for no reason, to them all theese things they dont have that we have makes them feel like they are better than us just because they now have preoius things .
